Q: What is a poker cruise?

  • A poker cruise is just like a regular cruise! Except BETTER!

You’ll still have all the dining, shows, and amazing destinations—but we also bring a full poker room to sea.  We take over the ship’s conference center and business centers and set it up with 20 to 25 tables, running cash games and tournaments. It’s very similar to what you’d find in poker rooms across North America, and in fact, our setup is often even bigger than local poker rooms. And just to be clear—we’re not connected to the ship’s casino. They might have a single poker table, but our room is completely private and just for our players.

Q: What makes you UNIQUE?

  • What makes us unique is that we really want everyone to feel like a VIP.

Poker cruises are always fun and community-driven, but we’ve built in extra touches to make the experience unforgettable. Our whole mission is about community and we treat everyone like a VIP Guest. We film all the final tables, plus we’ve got a feature table with high-tech equipment.

There’s an interview studio where we chat with players—whether they’ve just busted out or we just want to get to know them. On top of that, we host our Pokerlympics—team and solo challenges we play together at port, usually on a private island or beach. And between cruises, our Facebook group and our free poker app keeps everyone connected and the community vibe going strong.

Q: Will I be filmed?

  • Most of our players are excited to be filmed, but for those who aren’t...

we’ve put clear practices in place to respect your wishes. You can wear a red lanyard so our photographers and videographers know not to include you, and as explained in our waiver, we’ll do our best to keep you out of shots or blur you if needed. For those who do want to be filmed, there are plenty of opportunities. We film all final tables, plus we have a feature table set up just like on TV.

Our interview studio also records fun video segments—whether it’s a quick chat after you bust out or just getting to know you better. We capture the Pokerlympics with drones, and we also take video and photos in the poker room and dining room.  Along the way, you’ll see natural shots of players and the atmosphere.

After the cruise, you’ll be able to enjoy a great selection of both photos and videos to relive the experience.

Q: Do I have to be experienced or a certain level of poker player to come?

  • No not at all!

We have a wide range of players but mostly, our group is made up of social players who are here for the atmosphere, the travel, and the community as much as the poker itself.  Of course, we do have some very skilled players too—but the overall vibe is friendly, inclusive, and all about enjoying the experience together.  We even offer beginner classes for those who are brand new, and they’re a lot of fun because everyone at the table is learning together.

Q: Why should I book with Ultimate Poker Cruises?

  • You must book through us to play in our poker room, due to contracts with the cruise lines

The poker room is a private event space arranged directly with the cruise line, and as per our contract, the cruise line requires that only guests booked through Ultimate Poker Cruises are allowed in. This ensures everyone inside is part of our group, creating a safe, fun, and exclusive environment where players can relax, connect, and enjoy the experience without interruptions.

Q: What is Pokerlympics?

  • It’s like a Survivor-style poker themed, games day

Pokerlympics is one of the most fun parts of our cruises.  We usually host it on a private island or beach, but if the weather doesn’t cooperate, we’ll move it onto the ship in a space just for our group. Think of it as sports day for adults, with a poker twist.  We have about 20 different challenges, and we choose 8 or 9 different challenges each cruise—so every Pokerlympics is a little different.

You might find yourself sprinting across the sand while balancing a tray of poker chips, teaming up to solve a giant puzzle shaped like a king or queen, or pulling together in a tug-of-war with a special twist. There are prizes, plenty of laughs, and the whole event is filmed so you can relive the memories afterward. To see some of our Pokerlympic challenges, visit our website and check out the gallery.  Don't worry, they designed for all fitness levels.

Q: What’s the atmosphere like on board?

  • Oh it's one of the best parts of our poker cruises

The atmosphere on board is friendly, social, and really community-driven. Everyone is there to have fun, not to grind day and night, so it feels more like a big poker family than a typical “casino room”. We mix in a lot of extras that add to the vibe—like our theme nights, the photo wall, and the interview studio—so players get that VIP experience. At the same time, there’s plenty of downtime to enjoy the ship, relax by the pool, or explore ports of call.  The energy is upbeat and welcoming, and people make friendships that often last well beyond the cruise itself.

Q: Do I have to play poker the whole time?

  • Not at all.

This is a vacation first and foremost, and poker is just a big bonus. Some people play every day, others just join a few tournaments, and some even bring along a partner or friend who doesn’t play at all—they just enjoy the cruise, the shows, the excursions, and the ports of call.
You can play as much or as little poker as you want. The idea is to relax, have fun, and enjoy the full cruise experience—poker just happens to be the thing that brings our community together.

Q: Can I bring a guest who doesn’t play poker?

  • Absolutely!

Lots of our guests bring a spouse, friend, or travel buddy who doesn’t play at all. They still get the full cruise experience—dining, entertainment, excursions, and all the activities the ship has to offer.
While you’re playing in the poker room, they can join our BEGINNER class with the other newbies, OR they can enjoy the pool, a show, or just relax.
And of course, they’re always welcome to join us for group events like theme nights, Pokerlympics, and the red-carpet fun.

Q: What happens if I get seasick?

  • That’s a really common concern,

but the good news it, it's actually pretty rare! Modern cruise ships are huge and built with stabilizers, so most people hardly notice the movement at all.
If you’re worried, there are lots of easy options—like motion bands, patches, or over-the-counter remedies—that work really well. And remember, the ship’s medical team is always available if you need extra support.
For most guests, seasickness turns out to be a non-issue, and they’re surprised at how smooth the ride feels.

Q: What about the Wi-Fi?

  • The Wi-Fi on board is great!

There are different options depending on your budget and what you need.  The ship does have an internet café available for a fee—we don’t know the exact cost since it can vary—but it’s handy if you just need quick access.
There’s also a light package designed for social media, so you can stay connected with family and friends. And if you need more, there’s a heavier-duty package that runs through satellite, which allows you to stream, use YouTube, or download bigger files.
So whether you just want to check in now and then or stay fully connected, there’s a plan that works.

Q: What’s this about a flash mob?

  • Every cruise we do something really fun and unique—a flash mob!

Anyone can join or participate. It’s for FUN not mandatory. In the weeks leading up to the cruise, we will send out short, easy-to-follow dance videos so you can practice a few moves at home.
By the time we’re on board, everyone will know the full routine. We’ll do a quick practice run together, then perform it as a group—either on the ship or in one of our ports of call.
It’s lighthearted, super easy, and adds an extra layer of community and fun. Even if you’ve never danced before, you’ll fit right in, and it always makes for a great memory.
